Music Theory student requests

T, I am Brian 's mother. Brian is having some lack of motivation issues regarding school and at this time I think I need to temporarily suspend his lessons, at least until this school year is over.

I believe that we are paid up through his last lesson. If not, please let me know and I will send a check.

I will contact you to set up future lessons in mid-late June.

Brian really loves the lessons but I think he needs to focus his efforts on school for the next couple of weeks.

A, I'm . I've been singing jazz and performing in musical theatre since early childhood but have never really been able to read music or grasp theory. I took piano lessons for a year in middle school, and then took a few theory classes in college but it never stuck. I'm tired of being frustrated with music! I am very interested in taking weekly classes with you. I'm available tuesdays, wednesdays and fridays after 5 and all day on saturdays

L.
tell me a little about your books. Maybe I could use them. How much are they? I'm living in Arizona now and good blues and theory books might find a home here too.

On a sad note, Scott Olson died yesterday, August 1, 2008. Don't know if you were in touch with him over the years.

Hope all is well with you

I am interested in learning how to play the marimba. I do not have an instrument yet....still checking out the options. I have taken 6 years of piano as a child, so I'm familiar with reading music.

I have a few questions
How much do lessons cost?
Do you have a marimba to teach on?
Do you have any suggestions where I should be looking for a used instrument

looking to see what you make of the fact that I run all the Jeopardy! music categories, and why practically nobody I know knows that intervals have qualities or that the Neopolitan 6th shows up just once in a Bach chorale, or who Fux is (one of my friends has seen my copy, but even if he did read it he wouldn't be able to understand it because for one thing he can't even fill a measure with rests, and it takes him 45 minutes to figure out which motion the consecutive voices are moving in). ...

I am interested in learning to sight read, I believe that falls under the category of music theory. I am also interest in voice lessons. Do you teach a class that covers both? Or could we split an hour lesson that would cover both?
