Nico is a Berklee College of Music graduate, where he studied with Jon Damian (teacher of Bill Frisell, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lionel Loueke), Dave Tronzo, Hal Crook, Joe Lovano, Dave Santoro, Ed Tomassi, to mention just a few.  He focused in Performance and Composition.  He also studied in his hometown in Italy and at U.C. Berkeley, where he attended seminars with true jazz icons such as Jim Hall, Bill Frisell, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Steve Coleman, Dave Holland, Christian McBride, Stanley Clarke and others.

As a performer he has been active in New York City, Europe, the Boston area and California (where he played at the prestigious jazz club Yoshi’s).  He currently leads his trio of contemporary jazz, co-leads the experimental group Paradigm Refrain and performs as a solo guitarist.  He has also been a sideman in many shows and recordings and shared the stage with great guitarists, such as Dave Tronzo.

Nico has been teaching for over 10 years, focusing in jazz, blues, music theory and composition.  His approach in teaching is finding the potential in every student, by means of exposing students to various material and finding the the right match.  He has a private studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
