Shellane, also known as Shae-Rahnee, has been actively and successfully pursuing her talents to achieve her dreams of becoming a "Phenomenal Woman". Raised in the suburbs of Stone Mountain, GA., Shellane has been taught to share her God-given talents with others and to take advantage of every opportunity to become a better person. Blessed with the gifts of dance, music, media, graphic design, and cosmetology, Shellane chose to refine her skills at DeKalb School of the Arts in Atlanta, GA. Upon Graduating with a Diploma with Excellence (3.5 GPA) and a performing arts seal, she continued her education at Georgia State University School of Music where she is currently working towards a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Music Management with an emphasis in saxophone performance.
When not in class, Shellane is involved in numerous extracurricular activities and volunteer services:
Shellane's goals and aspirations include starting a non-profit organization geared towards bringing education through the performing arts to otherwise unfortunate children. This dream begins with YOU, the fortunate student. Through devoted and intruiging lessons, students will be able to think critically about music and dance and learn in ways as unique as themselves. "Although I was classically trained, I infuse classical teaching with popular music to engage the students attention and strengthen the students desire to keep learning. I WANT them to be better than me", Shellane explains. "My goal with each student is to teach them till they have learned all that they can learn from me and I can teach them no more."
During lessons, I like to have fun. I try to get to know the student and evaluate how the student learns best. Learning an art should never be stressful. I work at the student's pace (or the parent's pace). I have simple excercises to stay on track and hard excercises to push the student towards excellence... but that all depends on the desire of the student to be excellent. I, myself, have learned a thing or two from students, whether it be a mistake that can be turned into beautiful music, or a new way of conceiving an idea... it's a learning process for the both of us. We're a team!
Curriculum- I teach from method books with a classical structure. I throw in some modern music/movements to spice things up a bit. A full syllabus will be given to the student after goals are specified
After 3-6 months of taking lessons, depending on your starting point, you should have increased in difficulty in the following areas:
Classical training (music); and the previously mentioned genres of dance.
