"Jason has been a great instructor. He gave me some exercises to do at home to work on my finger..."I have 12 years of guitar teaching experience from all levels and ages 5 to 55+.I've developed my own style of teaching to cater to my students wants and needs. My lessons are both audio (CD) and visual (transcriptions), as well as being very hands on. I am the most patient and understanding teacher you will ever meet.
My education and love for teaching started around the age of 15. This was when I found my inspiration to play the guitar as an instument and would soon pursue with an intense passion that only another guitar player could understand. The 3 years of lessons that I recieved in high school were helpful, but even my teacher had a hard time keeping up with me. I would also enroll in theory and choir classes later in college in between playing in bands and studing music on my own. My music courses in college still seemed relativly simple, but that doesn't mean that they didn't mean anything. Every small experience with the instument should help anyones playing no matter how simple or difficult the exercises are. I would continue with private lessons while writing songs and teaching others to play as well. My awards are small, but I never really played for competitive purposes. I recieved my college degree directly after graduating high school and then dived head first into the music business. I went to high school up in Alaska at Skyview High, and my college degree was from the University of Alaska Anchorage. I also attended a junior college called KPC for other teaching purposes.
4 years of guitar lessons (public and private), 3 years study of music theory (high school and college). 5 years of relevent band experience, 5 years of professional studio recording experience. I have studied the guitar for over 11 years and have been teaching just as long. My major in college was Music with a minor in Art.
You should choose me as your instructor. I will give you exactly what you are looking to accomplish with your goals. Upon your first lesson, you will start to recieve complimentary audio lessons and transcriptions of songs you would like to learn to play regardless of whether or not I've ever heard or played the songs before. (I can transcribe up to 10 songs per lesson) I am a very patient instructor and understand everyone learns at a different pace and with different methods. I am willing to teach any style of music with any amount of depth you are looking for. I have a lot to offer, now is your opportunity to take advantage.
Most of my lessons take place either before 1 p.m. or after 6 p.m. on weekdays and weekends are available upon request.
Each student is an individual, but I have a professional method of teaching that I've developed over the years that has an emphasis directed towards the students objectives.
