Joan Q. TakeLessons Instructor Music, Drumset, Percussion W. Chaparral St., Rialto, CA

Joan is a passionate drummer and percussionist. She enjoys playing any genre of music whether it's rock, jazz, latin and R&B drumming, to classical marimba and snare. Joan has been playing for about 6 years and is involved in many groups and ensembles in school and in her local area. She has also had the opportunity to perform in TV shows such as Saturday Night Live, David Letterman, Good Morning America, and the Ellen Show. Joan is currently a Percussion Performance major at California State Universtiy at Long Beach.

I am a laid back teacher and I will adjust according to the student's ability and pace. I want my students to be comfortable with their instrument first and at the same time, have fun learning. My lessons will focus on the foundations: techniques and reading music. I will be providing the student with reading exercises/etudes to practice between lessons. As the student progresses, we will work on applying the techniques to drumset playing or mallet repertoire. My goal for my students is to have an understanding on how to play their instrument. I want my students to develop versatility and eventually find their own style, after all, music is a way of expressing yourself.
