"Great instructor, good communication. Efficient and thorough instruction, points out bad habits,..."David started learning guitar at the age of
seven and was already performing by the age of eight. After studying
with Lynn Herrick and Bill Svenglini for a number of years, David
attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He
received a BM in Songwriting, a BM in Music Synthesis, and studied a
wide variety of styles on the guitar including Rock, Jazz, Blues, Funk,
and Classical. David is now working towards a MM in Music Technology at Duquesne University. David has performed in many venues, including the Fillmore and the
Shoreline Amphitheater. He continues to record his original
compositions and is celebrating several releases in 2008.
Besides being a talented guitarist, David is a singer, a turntable
artist, and a music producer as well.
"I have come to the realization that happiness is everything. I’ve
noticed that having a caring and giving attitude makes me an extremely
happy person. With my performing and teaching of music, I’ve been
blessed with the opportunity to give back to the Entertainment
Community. This community has inspired me throughout my whole life with
amazing motion pictures and music which has been my life’s soundtrack.
Through these inspiring moments, I’ve become truly motivated as an
artist. I’ve written and recorded new songs and have gotten to work
with some really good people. How could I do this just for myself? I
can’t. I do it for all the entertainers who have influenced me over the
years, my family, friends, and anyone who can appreciate art. Being a
part of a community and having the mind set that we’re working together
to make the world a better place is so fulfilling. The Entertainment
Industry has a huge influence on today’s society and I think it is
important to remember that. Entertainers who serve as good role models
are making a world of difference and it makes me proud. It is therefore
my duty to do the best that I can in my work, influence people in a
positive way, and always be supportive of my fellow artists."
Students taking guitar can expect to learn songs in the style of their choice, chord playing, note reading, and general music theory. This is a great chance to learn and have fun playing the guitar. Music production students can expect to learn the art of audio recording, sound engineering, and music synthesis applications. Students studying songwriting will learn the process of writing commercial music in the style of their choice and will be given the tools necessary to advance their level of composing music. Turntablism students learn of the art of DJing and how the turntable can be used as a musical instrument. Beginner keyboard and piano lessons are also available.
I specialize in teaching rock, jazz, blues, and classical guitar. The music theory that I teach is jazz based. My focus with music technology involves teaching basic MIDI concepts and applications, digital audio recording, and electronic performance.
