Kay has been either teaching or performing nearly all of her life. She began her education in Indiana and ended up teaching college private voice for sixteen years. Her life was filled with performances in various opera productions in the Chicago area and the occasional tour which took her to Europe. She ended up in Germany where she sang Carlotta, The Prima Donna in The Phantom of the Opera for five years. In Hamburg she also taught singing to the cast of Phantom as well as in Stage Schools in Germany and London.
After three years in London, she came to Los Angeles where she taught at her West Hollywood studio and at UCLA. She also is a Professor of Voice at the Colbrun School of Performing Arts in downtown Los Angeles at the Music Center.
High concentration on vocal technique and classical repertoire. Italian, French and German diction.
Bel Canto Italian style with singing as an extension of speech, forward placement and correct body support. Blending registers with concentration on smoothing the passagios.
