Hi Potential Students!

Thanks for stopping by! I am a local, performing singer/songwriter, originally from Montana. I recently graduated from Pepperdine where I studied music theory, piano, and vocal performance. I continued my education through courses at UCLA as well. Beginning piano at age 6, I have studied for 18 years. At age 10, I composed my first song and have continued until now! Along with receiving instruction from local voice teachers, I also studied under Doug Hines of the Vienna State Opera, where I learned correct technique. Everything I have learned, I use to teach students that correct technique and truly knowing your instrument will allow you to progress further in any style of music. I have studied and performed classical, jazz, country and more. I also have a great deal of experience with kids. While in college I taught preschoolers as part of the JumpStart program, and I have tutored academics for years to children.

The key to learning is keeping interest. I allow students to take what they've learned and apply it to something fun that he or she wants to play or sing. In this way,I incorporate technique and knowledge with fun. Using even the smallest bit of knowledge learned and applying it to a pop song can create a sense of great achievment and progress for a student. Overall, I am very laid back. Teaching mostly beginners, I use the Alfred book series, which I learned from. It's a clear and not-so-dry curriculum that any student can enjoy!

As an Academic Manager, I not only tutored the subjects, but taught children organizational skills and worked with learning disabilities. Musically, I specialize in alternative/acoustic/folk rock, but I have a lot of experience singing and playing classical,jazz, country, and more.
