I began playing the guitar when I was 10 years old. Over the years, I developed a love for all types of music, whether it be classical, rock, blues, spanish, or many more. After high school, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in music, but wasn't sure in what capacity. I enrolled, and eventually graduated, with an associates degree in Audio Engineeering. However, I also knew I had great abilities as a performer, and decided to pursue my bachelors in Classical Guitar Performance soon after my first degree. Now, having graduated, I dedicate my time between creating music in my home studio, performing, and teaching.

For new students to the guitar I like to start with finger exercises to help develop proper technique and form. This will help the student develop a solid foundation quickly and allow him/her to be able to play more complex things much sooner.
I also begin introducing music reading at this stage to those who are interested in learning it. I begin with general music theory and reading guides; introducing the concepts of notes, clefs, meter, etc., and slowly work in how the guitar utilizes all these concepts. Tablature is also used to help students transition slowly to music reading.
Once an adequate amount of technique has been achieved, the real fun can begin! I will provide songs/pieces that I feel the student will gain great experience with and that are fun, and will work their own song selections into our lessons, which usually motivates people a lot to go that extra step.
