Having two parents in the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, I had a tremendous musical influence in my life from the very beginning. I began playing the oboe at age twelve, and became interested in music education as a career. I graduated in 1999 from Douglas Anderson High School for the Arts in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2003, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. My degree in education focused on secondary education and I hold a teaching certification for music grades K-12 for the State of Florida.  In 2005 I graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and received a Master of Music degree in Oboe Performance with Academic Honors. After getting married in Jacksonville, Florida on June 18, 2005, my new husband and I moved cross-country to Los Angeles, California.  I am blessed to spend every day playing oboe professionally in local orchestras and teaching instrumental elementary music.

I am an experienced and qualified teacher available to teach lessons for all ages and levels for the following instruments: oboe, flute, recorder, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, you will find a teaching quality that is personalized to meet your specific needs. My degree in Education was one way for me to demonstrate my love for teaching; my favorite way is by teaching private lessons. I recommend that all students, no matter what instrument or age level, begin taking lessons with a professional of that instrument as soon as possible. This will allow the student to learn good habits and techniques the first time, under the care of a teacher.

All students of mine will be able to see my dedication to their individual growth and joy of learning. Instruction focuses on developing breathing, embouchure, fingering, rhythmic and articulation skills as well as developing a good practicing habits.

Lessons take place at my home studio in Glendale, or we can work out travel to your home. If you would like to arrange lessons at your location, please be sure that you can provide an area away from house traffic and interruptions (siblings, telephone, etc), that is well lit with a music stand and two chairs.
