"Jerod is a great person and instructor his helped through being very patient and getting..."Jerod began teaching music at the age of 16. After growing up singing and playing the piano, he started sharing his gift with others through instruction. His experience with All-State choirs, solo & ensemble contests, talent shows, and church performances gave him special insight into his student's desires in music.
While attending Baylor University, where he received a BA in music with an emphasis in voice, Jerod teamed up with 3 other vocalists to form a group called Sign of Jonah. Together, the group recorded 2 albums and performed hundreds of shows across the country.
After returning from Nashville and his time with Sign of Jonah, Jerod began teaching, singing, and songwriting again. He has just completed recording and co-producing his first solo album of 13 original songs.
Jerod's voice and piano studio continues to grow. With students ranging from age 4 to 64, Jerod finds himself teaching all kinds of styles of music. He has a natural and engaging way of explaning musical concepts to old and young.
Piano Lessons :
I intend to mold lessons to fit the needs of each individual student. Piano lessons are a great way to introduce children to music and explore different areas of talent. Music helps promote coordination, discipline, and creativity. Lessons are structured to be educational and challenging as well as a lot of fun. Students usually work through a level based curriculum which, along with supplemental tools, help teach technique and theory.
Like any skill, sport, or art, practice is a necessary part of excelling in music. I will suggest recommended amounts of practice according to the age and level of each student.
There are two scheduled recitals each year, one during the winter holidays and one in May. These recitals are optional but serve as a great opportunity for students to hear from students at different levels.
Voice Lessons
Children
Singing at a young age develops vocal abilities, but more importantly develops a child’s aural abilities (recognizing melodies, harmonies, etc.). Voice lessons build confidence and help prepare children for performing in front of others.
Church / Worship Leading
Singing on praise/worship teams is an art form all of it’s own. Lessons centered around this kind of singing focus on the areas of blending, tone, hearing harmonies, and keeping your part in a group.
For the soloist / worship leader, lessons help in the areas of projection, tone, range, runs, and breathing.
Performing / Recording / Vocal Health
Recording and touring presents unique challenges to singers. By concentrating on breathing, vocal production and tension reduction, warm-up exercises, and range building exercises, these lessons help increase stamina and reduce the effects of vocal fatigue for those who sing long hours at a time.
