"Very polite. I felt that he went above and beyond, what I expected. Professional, but at the..."Jeremiah is a 26 year old prodigy who was born to a blues musician father and a gospel singing mother. His roots in music are very well grounded. Not only is he an expert trumpeter, he is also a brilliant record producer, composer, and studio engineer.
Jeremiah began playing the trumpet at the age of 7, and ever since then he has fallen "in love" with music. He was in the middle school band at 3rd grade and began teaching lessons in 8th grade. When he entered high school, his musical journey began to really create a path of success. He began taking classes in other instruments (guitar, drums, piano, choral). In his junior year, he was introduced to a class that would change his whole life! Jeremiah signed up for an electronic music class, in which he learned how to make music that matched the sound of what he would hear on the radio. From that point, he began mastering the skill of engineering and composing.
In Jeremiah's senior year of high school, he received many awards and opportunities due to his understanding of music. He was the winner of the annual school song contest and won 3 talent shows that year. He also performed at a large number of big events that year.
While pursuing his dreams of being a landmark musician, Jeremiah also continued to give trumpet lessons to students in a classroom fashion. He was the instructor of a drum & bugle drill team. He was responsible for teaching parts to a 6 section horn line along with marching band drills. This was the same program that started him on his musical journey. After graduating high school, he attended Columbia College of Chicago to further pursue his dreams. He studied music thoery and sound during his time at Columbia. Due to the expenses of going to Columbia, Jeremiah decided to no longer attend school.
In the fall of 2001 Jeremiah made the decision to take any money he would make and invest it into himself and business. He always wanted to own his own recording studio and record label, so he sought out to do such. With the help of outside investors he built his first recording studio. He would use this studio to supplement income by creating a broad clientele and charging for studio services. This experience was great due to the ability to experiment, network, and be an entrepenuer. He got a chance to learn from working with other artist and musicians.
In the winter of 2006, Jeremiah began teaching private lessons for the Skokie Park District. This was and is still currently an enjoyable experience for him. This gave him an oppurtunity to work with students more intensely and create his own lesson plan. This lesson plan incorporates everything that Jeremiah has obsorbed since his quest began. He takes pride in being able to show his students how to cut a record using their instrument. This keeps them interested and eager. He now has his own professional recording studio and independent label. He has used his ability to generate income and control his destiny. In the future he has plans of owning his own music school to help others find a love within music.
You can expect greatness and hard work when taking lessons with me. I have a great time when teaching. I am a laid back teacher who is understanding and loves all genres of music. I believe that hard work can be done while enjoying the experience as well. Music is suppossed to be fun. All of my students have a professional quality recording of themselves after three months. We then compare that record to one of six months and observe the progress. I like to find out what type of music each student enjoys or wants to see themselves playing and then we record them playing some music that it similar to that. I mix my lesson time with teaching fundamentals and learning requested music. This has proven to be most effective.
My method of teaching involves fundamental training, playing popular jazz pieces with cd accompaniment, and recording my students to track progress. Usually around week 5, They have learned a song in which I invite the student (and family) to come to my studio and I show them the process of cutting a record and I create a cd for them to hold on to. Then we go back in and do it again (weeks later) to hear improvement. I am also a music producer so sometimes I involve them in my music by letting them participate in some of my original music which consist of the hip-hop and R & B genre.
