About Me

Michelle is an enthusiastic professional voice teacher and musical theater actor.  Michelle trained classically in voice for many years before receiving her BFA in Musical Theater from the University of Point Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  After several years of teaching and performing musical theater in Pittsburgh and touring around the country, she relocated to New York where she has worked in television, commercials and live performance.

Michelle has an extensive teaching background ranging from private study to pre-college conservatory courses. In the last 8 years, she has trained voices of all types and styles from Broadway to classical to pop to jazz and country.  Pre-teen to adult, both male and female.  Currently, she teaches musical theater at Broadway Babies/Applause Theatrical workshops, a private musical theater conservatory in New York.

Lesson Details

One of the great things about studying privately is that we can customize lesson plans according to what you want! We will always focus on proper breathing and vocal technique, but the goals may vary. Some people like to study recreationally, as a hobby. Some are looking to find audition material and develop technique for professional reasons.  No matter what your goals, I tailor each lesson to the individual student.

Goals Include:

Breathing Technique

Knowledge of Singing Anatomy

Correct Placement

Healthy Vocal Production

Widening of Range

Vocal Flexibility

Dynamic Control

Expansion of Repertoire/Audition Material

Singing in Varied Musical Styles

Performance Styles

My objective for all lessons is to help you understand your instrument and give you the power to use it effectively.  If you understand your body, your voice and how to use it correctly, you’ll sound better, feel more confident and have more fun!  Study may be rigorous and technical, but the love of singing is always at the core.  I truly love to teach voice and I strive to make my lessons warm, open and encouraging, while helping my students to sing to their very best potential.
